Sue Nell Casteel, age 92, Joplin, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2018 at the home of her daughter.
She was born October 10, 1925 in Joplin, to the late Wayne Putnam and Erma Price Putnam.
Sue married Arthur Albert Casteel June 23, 1945 in Hockerville, OK. He preceded her in death on May 5, 2007.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Wayne Putnam; a sister, Mae Ella Whetstone; and one son-in-law, Daniel Osborn.
She worked as a school cook at the Greenwood School and Eagle Picher Technologies, all while owning and operating the family farm and Casteel’s Grocery Store and Dairy Queen. She was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church and the Greenwood Ladies Quilting Club.
Sue is survived by one son, Gary Casteel and wife, Saundie, Joplin; one daughter, Estella Osborn, Joplin; three grandchildren, David Arthur Osborn and his wife, Kelli, Neosho, Tiffany Dawn Randall and her husband, Doug, Harrison, NE, Erin Andrea Garren and her husband, Hubert, Neosho; five great-grandchildren, Daniel Arthur Garren, David Andrew Osborn, Lane Patrick Osborn, Grace Ersin Garren, all of Neosho, Colton Cutter Randall, Harrison, NE; two brothers, Ray Putnam, Joplin, Beryl Putnam, Oklahoma; a sister, Mae Crowder, Albany, GA; a host of nieces and nephews; and two good friends, Larry Haflich and Leroy Whetstone.
Funeral serves are planned for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Greenwood Baptist Church. Pastor Skip Williams will officiate. Burial will follow at Osborne Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Parker Mortuary. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Greenwood Ladies Quilting Club and may be left in care of the mortuary.
