Sue Frances Lightle, age 92, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on Friday, July 20, 2018.
Sue was born November 12, 1925, in Lexington, Oklahoma, to Bill and Flossie King. She married Jim Lightle on September 18, 1946, in Clinton, Oklahoma, and he preceded her in death in 2013.
Jim and Sue moved to Webb City in 1949, where they owned and operated the Otasco Store until 1982. She then owned and operated Happy Days Daycare with her daughter, Jean Ann, for 10 years until her retirement in 1992. Sue always considered her Happy Days children like her own and she had a special place in her heart for them.
Sue enjoyed traveling the country with Jim during their 66 years of marriage. She also enjoyed volunteering for Crosslines. She was a member of Workers for Christ and an officer of Beta Sigma Phi. Sue was a devoted member of Central United Methodist Church of Webb City for 68 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Jaymme Lightle-Caswell, of Olathe, Kansas, and Jean Ann Black and husband, Bob, of Webb City; one son, Steve Lightle, and wife, Barb, of Duenweg; six grandchildren, Amy Cole and husband, Jason, Angie Endicott and husband, Todd, Kerri May and husband, Mike, Rene Greer, Adria Trombley and husband, Justin, and Bobby Holder and wife, Patty; 12 great-grandchildren; and a niece, Tracey Shipley and husband, Paul.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her brother, Bill King; and a grandson, Edward Holder.
Sue’s wishes were to be cremated. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 23, 2018, at Mount Hope Cemetery in Webb City with Mike Moore officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central United Methodist Church of Webb City. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home, Webb City, Missouri.
