Charles R. Palmer, Jr., age 70, Joplin, passed away at 8:40 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2018 at Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas.
Charles was born March 3, 1948 in Escondido, California to the late Charles Palmer, Sr. and Juanita Erskins Palmer and had lived in Joplin most of his life.
He worked at Tamko for over twenty years, retiring in 2010. Following retirement, he and his wife enjoyed traveling and spent winters in Alamo, Texas. Charles collected hot wheels and attended their annual conventions. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Charles married Jane Clemens on June 27, 1969 in Joplin. She survives at the home with their pet, Hannah.
Additional survivors include a brother, Harry Palmer, Webb City; a sister, Amy Melton and husband, Jason, Baxter Springs, Kansas; nieces and nephews, Amber Wilson and husband, Will, Crystal Walton and husband, Dustin, Verna Burris and husband, Jeremy, Jack Cook; and sister-in-law, Nancy Fortuck and husband, Larry.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by a son, Charlie.
Graveside services will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Osborne Memorial Cemetery. Steve Jones will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
