Joan Peppers

Joan S. Peppers, age 84, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at her home following an extended illness.

She was born on March 25, 1934 in Cleveland, Oklahoma to the late Clo and Audy Shipman. She was a graduate of Joplin High School. She was married to the late Bill Peppers for 66 years, whom she wed on March 23, 1951.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Pepper Haynes; one brother, Bill Shipman; and a sister, Penny Pearson.

Joan and Bill owned and operated Peppers Truck Body and Equipment Company. As an avid skeet shooter, she and her husband founded the local skeet and trap range. She also enjoyed volunteering at the hospital. Joan was devoted to her family, delighted in her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and dearly loved her friends.

She is survived by two daughters Debra Haynes and her husband Jay, and Denise Cline, both of Joplin; three grandchildren Sabre Haynes, Michael Cline, and Melynn Cline; three great grandchildren Aubrey Niess, Bailey Niess, and Paizli Moore; and sister, Peggy Whitehead.

Funeral services are planned for 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 10, 2018 at the First Community Church. Rev. Russell Willoughby will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to First Community Church, Joplin, Missouri or the charity of donor’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
