Glen D. 'Big Dave' Clifton, age 66, Joplin, passed away at 11:51 a.m. Monday, April 11, 2016 at Joplin Health and Rehabilitation Center after an illness.
Dave was born May 15, 1949 in Springfield, Missouri to the late Woodrow Clifton and Julia Casteel Clifton and had lived in the Joplin area most of his life.
He was a driver for Martin Oil Company and 4-State Trucks for over 40 years. Dave enjoyed his friends; watching old westerns and the company of his puppy, Bam Bam. Dave was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. Family meant everything to Dave and will be missed by all that knew him.
Dave was married to the former Barbara Hurlbert and then married Retha Smith. Retha preceded him in death on March 22, 2010.
Survivors include his children, David Clifton and his wife, Teresa, Joplin, Melissa McAllister and companion, Scott Rosenberg, Joplin, Rebecca Stegall and Travis Lambeth, Joplin, Jennifer Clifton, Joplin; step son, Shawn Smith, Joplin; two brothers, Woodrow Clifton, Lebanon, Tommy Clifton, Joplin; two half brothers, Michael Daily and Danny Daily, both of Joplin; and six grandchildren, Kylea Welton, Jordan McAllister, Peyton McAllister, Kolten Stegall, Kennadi Stegall and Raydan Rosenberg.
Services are planned for Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Brother Jimbo Crum will officiate. Interment will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jimbo Crum, Carl Crum, Rick Stone, Bryce Martin, Brian Martin and Scott Rosenberg. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7-8:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel.
