Peggy Joann Michael, age 68, of rural Carthage, Mo. passed away at 3:34 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Mo. Peggy was born December 31, 1947 in Princeton, Mo., the daughter of Samuel and Betty Clark Smith. Peggy graduated from Princeton High School in 1965 and moved to the Carthage area in 1973. Peggy was an active member of Christ’s Church of Oronogo.
Peggy was married to Thomas Michael August 6, 1965 in Half Rock, Mo. and he survives. Additional survivors include a son, Tommy Michael, Carthage, two daughters, Jackie Travis and husband Randy, Carthage, and Amy Monroe and husband Doug, Terre Haute, In., her Mother, Betty Smith, Trenton, Mo., one brother, Larry Smith and wife Diane, Unionville, Mo., three sisters, Linda Dale and husband Wally, St. Joseph, Mo., Connie Reed and husband Macky, Newtown, Mo., and Debbie Carman, Trenton, Mo., seven grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Peggy was preceded in death by her Father, and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Christ’s Church of Oronogo with Lynn Ragsdale, Minister, officiating. Burial will follow at the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the Mason-Woodard Chapel in Joplin. Memorial contributions are requested to Watered Gardens, or The Way Station Food Pantry, in care of the Mortuary. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin, Mo.
