Lucy Carol Adams, age 57 of Joplin, passed away Friday, April 8, 2016 at Freeman Hospital following an almost 5 year long battle with cancer.
Lucy was born January 11, 1959 in Texarkana, Arkansas to the late Philip Thamert, Sr. and Carol Millis Thamert. After graduating from Carthage High School, Lucy took time to raise her family prior to returning back to M.S.S.U. and receiving her Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. She worked for Sebastian Equipment in the accounting department prior to retiring due to health issues. Lucy was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Joplin.
Lucy loved her family and doing anything outdoors including walking and hiking. Lucy loved to collect anything having to do with lighthouses. Before she became ill she was very athletic, she enjoyed playing tennis and golf.
Surviving Lucy include four sons, Blake Adams and wife, Samantha of Carl Junction, Jake Adams and wife, Rebecca of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Luke and Levi Adams, both of Joplin; daughter, Sarah Adams also of Joplin; grandsons, Tucker, Landen, Kale and Cooper; brother, Philip Thamert, Jr. of Carthage; step mother, Jolynn Thamert of Joplin; brother in-law, Mark Hoskins as well as 2 nieces and 1 nephew.
Other than her parents, Lucy is preceded in death by sisters, Kerri Marston and Angie Hoskins and a stillborn son, Noah.
Funeral services are planned for Wednesday, April 13 at 1:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Joplin, burial to follow at Park Cemetery, Carthage. Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
