Corky Futch

Collier "Corky" Hartridge Futch, Jr., age 77, Galena, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday evening, December 3, 2020.

Corky was born August 16, 1943 in Galena, and left to join the military at age 16. Corky served in the US Navy for 20 years including two tours of duty during the Vietnam War. 

 It was during his time in the military that he met his first wife, Mary Ellen (Johnson) Futch. Collier and Mary were wed in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 29, 1965. They had two children, son Kevin M. Futch and daughter Mindi K. Futch. 








 Upon retirement from the Navy, Corky worked for over 20 years as a Department of Defense civil service employee at the Naval Air Rework Facility North Island in San Diego, California.

Corky was preceded in death by his parents, Charles H. Taylor and Mary L. (Shallenburger) Taylor, first wife Mary Ellen (Johnson) Futch, and brother, Lloyd James "Jim" Futch.

Corky moved back to Galena and met and married Grace Burrows on February 3, 2009.

Survivors include his wife, Grace, son, Kevin M. Futch (Lorena), daughter, Mindi K. Futch Bradley (Jack); sister, Linda Phipps; step-children, Tom Burrows, Kim Artinger (Steve) and Pam Slimp (Ray); several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and Shallenburger cousins.

Corky loved his family first, followed by his many interests - reading, history, socializing, tinkering and restoring old items, and watching the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs. He is loved and will be missed by many.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
