(From Parker Mortuary)Barbara “Bobbye” Jean Russell, age 96, of Carl Junction, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at her home surrounded by family.
Bobbye, daughter of the late Jesse and Babe (Manlove) Lundien, was born on July 24, 1926 in Carl Junction. She grew up and attended school in Carl Junction graduating from Carl Junction High School in 1944. She was united in marriage to Marvin “Russ” Russell on November 26, 1946. He preceded her in death in 1992.
Bobbye was employed with the Joplin Globe as the Executive Secretary for 25 years until her retirement. She was a faithful and devoted member of the Methodist Church of Carl Junction, Carl Junction Alumni Association, Carl Junction Cemetery Committee, and previous Grand Martha of the Grand Chapter of Missouri Order of the Eastern Star Faith Chapter #334. On February 25, 2021 she was awarded her pin for her faithful 75 years of membership. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She loved all of her family, friends and acquaintances and was a mentor to many over the years. Her family will remember her dedication to her family and her community.
Survivors include her sons, Terry Russell, and his wife, Sara, of Eureka Springs, Dennis Russell, and wife, Vickie, of Greenfield, Jimmy Russell, of Carl Junction, and David Russell, and his wife, Cindy, of Carl Junction; her sister, Jayne Sill, and her husband, Carroll Sill; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John A. Lundien and Jeff Lundien.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary in Joplin with burial to follow at the Carl Junction Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Friday, September 9th from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Carl Junction Cemetery or to Pleasant Hill Church and may be entrusted to the mortuary.
Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
