Jimmy Rogers

(From Ozark Funeral Home)

Jimmy Don Rogers, 75. of Rocky Comfort, Missouri, passed away in the comfort of his home in Rocky Comfort, Missouri, on Thursday, September 5, 2024, after a long illness. He entered this life on June 6, 1949, in Duncan, Oklahoma, the eldest son born to the late Ernest and Betty Jean (Richardson) Rogers.

Raised in the town of his birth, Jimmy was a graduate of Duncan High School's class of 1967. His thirst for knowledge and love for the land led him to pursue higher education at Oklahoma State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics in 1971. His education laid the foundation for a life dedicated to the earth and its bounty.

Jimmy's professional journey was as diverse as it was fulfilling. For eighteen years, he worked in construction, building not just structures but also a reputation for hard work and integrity. He served his community as a part-time rural mail carrier for two decades, a role that allowed him to connect with his neighbors and the countryside he so loved. However, it was his fifty years as a rancher that truly captured his heart, as he nurtured the land and livestock with a gentle yet firm hand.

In addition to his professional endeavors, Jimmy was deeply involved in his community. He was a former Golf Coach at McDonald County High School, where he mentored young athletes with patience and wisdom. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Pineville, Missouri. There, he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher, sharing his love for the Lord with grace and humility.

An avid golfer, he spent many a day on the greens, perfecting his swing and enjoying the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts. Hunting and fishing were not just hobbies but a way of life for Jimmy, who cherished the tranquility of the woods and the thrill of the chase. Each spring, he looked forward to hunting for morel mushrooms, a simple pleasure that brought him immense satisfaction.
