Michael Soltow

(From Ozark Funeral Home)

Michael Thomas Soltow, aged 60, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at his residence in Grove, Oklahoma, after courageously battling an illness for a year and a half. He was born on January 9, 1964, in Denver, Colorado, one of six children born to the union of the late Edward and Frances (Lamirato) Soltow. Michael grew up in Southwest City, Missouri, and graduated from McDonald County High School in 1982.

Following high school, Michael answered the call of duty and enlisted in the United States Navy. His commitment to service was evident in his work as an Aircraft Mechanic, a role that took him to numerous naval bases across the country and around the globe. Michael's dedication to his country was unwavering, and after 22 years of honorable service, he retired from the Navy in 2004.

Upon his retirement from military service, Michael continued to apply his expertise as an Aircraft Mechanic with AAR Airlift. His work ethic and skill were highly valued, and he remained with the company until health concerns led to his retirement in December of 2022. Michael's resilience and strength were an inspiration to all who knew him.

Michael's life was marked by his love for his family, his country, and his passions. He is survived by his two sisters, Susan Law and her husband, David, of Southwest City, Missouri, and Carol Pryor and her husband, Kenneth, of Pryor, Oklahoma. His memory will also be cherished by his brothers, Eddie Soltow and his wife, Sue, of Anderson, Missouri, Robert Soltow and his wife, Marla, of Seneca, Missouri, and Christopher Soltow and his wife, Sarah, of Ballwin, Missouri. Michael's numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends will fondly remember his generous spirit and kind heart.

Michael's interests were a reflection of his love for the outdoors and the simpler pleasures in life. He had a passion for old cars, often spending time restoring and admiring these classic beauties. Fishing was another of Michael's joys, providing him with moments of tranquility and reflection. He also looked forward to hunting trips back to Colorado, where he could reconnect with nature and the rugged beauty of the landscape he first knew as a child.

Before settling in Grove, Oklahoma, in June of 2024, Michael lived in Pryor, Oklahoma with his sister, Carol. His presence was a source of stability and comfort to those around him, and his absence will be deeply felt by many. His spirit will forever soar as freely as the aircraft he so skillfully maintained throughout his distinguished career.

Memorial services are 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 20, 2024 at Church of the Nativity in Noel, Missouri with Father Chaz Dunn officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, September 19, 2024 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Ozark Funeral Home Chapel in Southwest City, Missouri. Memorials are being directed to the DAV c/o the funeral home.
