Sam McCleskey

(From Ozark Funeral Home)

Samuel Edward McCleskey, 85, known affectionately as Sam, passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024, after months of failing health. He was born on April 8, 1939, in Belleville, Arkansas, to the union of the late Lawton and Alma (Torbett) McCleskey. He departed this world in the comfort of his home in Anderson, Missouri.

Sam's early life was spent in the rural community of Belleville. At the age of 14, his family moved to Los Angeles, California, a transition that would set the stage for his future endeavors. It was in California that Sam found his calling in the world of entrepreneurship. He owned and operated Al-rite Insulation Company for over three decades, specializing in commercial mechanical insulation.

In 2015, after a successful career, Sam chose to retire to Anderson, Missouri, where he could enjoy a quieter pace of life. However, retirement did not mean inactivity for Sam. He pursued his interests with the same vigor that he approached his professional life. Sam had a passion for gambling, with Baccarat being his game of choice. He relished the thrill of the game and the camaraderie of fellow players. Additionally, he found joy in gold mining, an interest that allowed him to explore the great outdoors and satisfy his adventurous spirit. We celebrate a life well-lived, a journey well-traveled, and a man well-loved.

He is survived by his two children, Mark McCleskey and Kim Mosley both of Anderson, Missouri; five grandchildren; a brother, Jerry Cohen of Ft. Worth, Texas; as well as a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rexanne McCleskey; a son, Tim McCleskey and two sisters, Marian Smith and Bonni Hudock.
Cremation arrangements are under the care of Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri.
