Edward Foulks

Edward Eugene Foulks, age 88, of Carl Junction, passed away on Monday, January 3, 2022 at Oak Pointe of Carthage.

Edward was born January 24, 1933 near Rockford, Illinois, son of the late Clarence Edward Foulks and Emma Mirrah (Uptegrove) Foulks. 

He grew up in Independence, Missouri where he graduated from high school before joining the United States Air Force in 1951. 








He proudly served his country for more than 20 years culminating his career as a C-141 Flight Engineer and instructor. Ed retired in October 1971 at the rank of MSgt. In the later years of his Air Force career, Ed and his crews flew multiple cargo and resupply missions in and out of Vietnam in support of the Vietnam War effort. 

Over the course of his life he lived in Flagg Center, Illinois; Independence, Missouri; Tucson, Arizona; Merced, California; Carlswell Air Force Base, Ft. Worth, Texas; Hahn Air Base in Germany; Ramstein Air Base in Germany; Charleston Air Force Base Charleston, South Carolina finally settling permanently in Carl Junction. 

After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his wife and grandchildren, helping with activities at the Carl Junction Senior Citizens Center, was active in VFW Post 534, and the American Legion. During their youth, Ed committed his free time to coaching and managing his three son’s youth baseball teams.
 
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by a son, Steve Alan Foulks.

Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Shirley Ann (Bourke) Foulks of Carl Junction; sons, Lawrence Edward “Eddie” Foulks and wife Rhonda of Carl Junction, and Terry Eugene Foulks of Mount Vernon, Missouri; grandchildren, Terry E. Foulks, II of Webb City, Melinda Ann Doyle (Shawn) of Jasper, Missouri, Jason Foulks (Jill) of Webb City, Lawrence Edward “Ed” Foulks, II (Stacy) of Warrensburg, Missouri, Brandi Jo Boulware (Chad) of Webb City, Shawn Foulks (Tina) of Watauga, Texas, Justin Foulks of Watauga, and Tyler Foulks (Erin) of Watauga; 13 great-grandchildren and his furry companion, Rowdy.

Graveside service will be Friday, January 14, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in Carl Junction Cemetery with full Military Honors with Reverend Van Boulware officiating.
