Bob Scheurer

Robert Lee (Bob) Scheurer, 79, of Carthage, passed away Monday June 15, 2015 at his home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Pearle Scheurer of Watonga, Oklahoma, two brothers, George Scheurer Jr. and Harold Scheurer, two sisters, Ruth Dickens and Jeanne Landis. 

Survivors include his wife of almost 60 years, Clydene, his daughter Karen Clark of Fairway, KS. Daughter Anita Idleman and Dave of Carthage, MO, son John Scheurer and Sharon of Leavenworth, KS and a son Jay Scheurer and Susan of Eldersburg, MD, 12 grandchildren, 3 great grandsons and 1 great granddaughter, two sisters Ethel Zeka of Wellington, KS, and Cleo Gerber of Watonga, OK. and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Born and raised in Watonga, OK. he was the youngest of 7 children. After graduating from Watonga High School, he moved to Wichita, KS where he worked for Boeing Airplane Company. He married Doris Clydene Egnew of Henryetta, OK on July 1, 1955 in Wichita, KS. In 1957 he joined the United States Air Force and served 4 years as an Air Traffic Controller in Oklahoma, Kansas and Korea. After his discharge, he worked for the Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Traffic Controller for many years, retiring as Manager of the Joplin Regional Airport Control Tower in 2001. 

Bob and his family lived in Wellington, Kansas for 19 years where Bob became a Master Electrician and had his own business. Many lasting friendships were made there which continue to this day.
Bob became a Christian in 1954, at the age of 19, and over the years in many different churches served as a Sunday school teacher, treasurer, and deacon. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Webb City. 

Funeral services will be held 10 AM on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Webb City with Dr. Joe Dan Fowler and Rev. Bob Easton officiating with burial at the Mt. Hope Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the church.

The family suggests memorial contributions for Bob to Mercy Hospice or the Souls Harbor in care of the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City. Visit www.simpsonfh.com for online condolences.
