Michael E. Smith, 67, of Sarcoxie, Mo departed this life on Friday, May 29, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family, after a long battle of cancer.
Michael entered this life on November 26, 1947 in Goodland, Ks to the union of the late Philip H. and Lydia (Fuentez) Smith. With his father being in the military, the family settled in Poway, Ca where he graduated from high school. He attended three years of college at San Diego State as well as Palomar College at San Marcos, Ca. On April 7, 1990 he was united in marriage to Brenda Adams in Las Vegas and together they shared twenty five years. He and his family has resided in Sarcoxie, Mo since 1996. Michael was a retired employee of Reyco, Mt. Vernon, Mo. He enjoyed golf, bowling, music, cards and fishing, as well as spending time with family and friends. He was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Poway, Ca.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Michael is survived by his wife, Brenda of the home, two sons; Michael Smith, Jr., and Robert Smith, both of Sarcoxie, four daughters; Alice Schmehl and husband Marland and Kim Smith, all of Willard, Stacie Whitaker and husband R. Christian Woehrle of Frederick, Md, and Nancy Smith of Sarcoxie; eighteen grandchildren; and his puppy Abbi, as well as a host of other family and friends.
Graveside services for Mr. Smith are 3:30 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Sarcoxie Cemetery with Larry Mills officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Michael Smith, Robert Smith, Marland Schmehl, Dyllon Schmehl, Donnie Springer and Austin Franklin.
