Treva Ferrier

Treva Mirrel Stansbury Ferrier 88, Joplin, Mo, passed away into eternal rest Monday June 15th, 2015 after a short illness. She was born to the late Mirrel and Arthelia Bell (Smith) Stansbury October 3, 1926 in Webb City, Mo. 

Treva attended school in Webb City and later in life attended Crowder College in Neosho, Mo graduating with a degree in secretarial science. She then worked as a receptionist and bookkeeper for Griffen Grocery Co, Dr. John Koehler, Scott Industrial Supply Co and Independent Gravel Co retiring in 1998.

Treva married Purl Allen Ferrier on December 10th 1953. They spent their lives together on a form south of Joplin until Purl preceded Treva in death on July 17, 1980. A daughter, Vicki Purl Ferrier Taylor also preceded Treva in death on May 19th 2004. Treva was also blessed with a loving longtime companion Oliver R. Minor. They shared a home, attended Forest Park Baptist Church, and shared their love for bowling, fishing, the love for their combined families and a beautiful little dachshund named Mollie. Oliver preceded Treva in death on October 24, 2009. Treva was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord with all her heart which showed in everything she did throughout her life. 

Survivors include a son, Johnnie “Skip” L. Ferrier and wife Vicki Lynn of Joplin, a brother LeRoy Stansbury of Webb City, Mo, a stepdaughter Lorna Stover of Columbus, Ks, two stepsons Del Ferrier of Russellville, In and John Bob Ferrier of Columbus, Ks, a stepsister Anna Folken and Stepbrother Bobby Reid. Treva had several grandchildren and great grandchildren that were the loves of her life. Treva is also survived by a much loved, very caring and best friend Brenda Hulderman who walked with her every step thru this terrible illness until the Lord Jesus took Treva’s hand and took her home.

Funeral services, are under the direction of the Mason-Woodard Mortuary to be held at 10:00 am Friday June 19, 2015 at the Mortuary with Pastor John Swadley officiating. Burial will follow in the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery Joplin, Mo Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday at the mortuary. The family suggests contributions to Faithful Friends of Neosho, Mo in care of the mortuary.
