Mary Ellen Dyer, age 93 of Joplin, Mo passed away early Wednesday June 24, 2015 at her home following an illness.
Mary Ellen was born on September 20, 1921 in Joplin, the daughter of John and Irene (Taylor) Dyer. She has been a lifetime area resident, she worked for the Kansas City School District for many years before retiring and moving back to Joplin. Mary Ellen was a member of the Galena Assembly of God. Mary Ellen’s most favorite thing to do was to travel the world.
She is survived by her sister; Martha Lou Dyer of Joplin, her good friend and caregiver; Patricia Barnard of the home, two cousins; Mildred Marshall and Helen Heman both of Carthage, Mo. Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her parents and by a sister, Vivian Dyer.
Graveside services have been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2015 at Forest Park Cemetery in Joplin. Chaplain Tom Maples, will officiate.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
