Edman Maggard

Edman C. Maggard, 77, of La Russell, Mo departed this life on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Carthage Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Edman entered this life on July 4, 1937 in Christian County, Mo to the union of the late Henry and Vida (Briggle) Maggard. At the age of eight he and his family moved to La Russell, Mo where he attended Bowers Mill School. Edman was united in marriage to Anna Boggs on June 21, 1958 and together they shared fifty-six years. Edman was self-employed and also had work several years for Steadley Manufacturing in Carthage, Mo. He was a hard worker and took great pride in caring for his family. He loved spending time with his family and friends, playing dominoes, pitching horse shoes and fishing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two children; Mark and Sarah Maggard; four brothers; Gene Maggard, Cecil Maggard, Joe Maggard and James Maggard, and two sisters; Esther Patrick and Beulah Clapper.

Edman is survived by his wife, Anna, of the home, his children; Keith Maggard and wife, Vera, of La Russell, Pamela Ruble and husband, Rob, of Springfield, Paul Maggard of La Russell and Darlene Kennon and husband, Michael, also of La Russell; fifteen grandchildren; Brandi Maggard, Brock Maggard, David Maggard, Gennie Moeller, Nick Maggard, Jessica Maggard, Tyler Maggard, Mary Arr, Kati Turner, Chris Straw, Zara Nichols, Trisha DeWitt, Betty Hughey, Sheresa Wendleton and Wesley Nowell, thirty-seven great-grandchildren, one brother, Roy Maggard, of Ava and one sister, Florence Evans, of Theodosia, Mo as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral Services for Mr. Maggard are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home with Mitchell Boggs, Jr. officiating. Burial to follow in Sarcoxie Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Jimmy Arr, Brian Nichols, Chris Straw, Brock Maggard, Cody Arr and Nicholas Maggard.
