Willa Rae Scholl, age 93, of Joplin, Mo. a former Newark, Ark. resident, passed away at 4:50 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2015 at Spring River Christian Village in Joplin following a three month illness. Willa Rae was born May 8, 1922 in Kansas City, Mo. where she was also raised. She lived in Newark, Arkansas from 1975 until 2011, when she moved to Joplin to be closer to a son. Willa Rae was a member of the Baptist Church in Newark.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Velmer C. Scholl in 2002. Survivors include three sons, Bob Scholl, Lane, Ks., John O. Scholl, Kearney, Mo., and Lawrence Scholl, Joplin, Mo., nine grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Mason-Woodard Chapel with Rev. Jarel Burnside officiating. Visitation will follow the service at the Chapel. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Newark, Ark. Grandchildren will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
