Elnora Childress

Elnora Lois Childress was born February 15, 1934 in Neosho, Missouri, one of eight children to Noah Ernest and Nina Florence (Ritter) Adams. She entered into rest in the comfort of her home on May 8, 2020, following an extended illness at the age of 86.

Elnora was a lifelong area resident and worked for many years at Eagle Picher in Seneca, retiring in 1999. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, reading, she was an avid doll collector, but being with her grandchildren was her most favorite pastime. She was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church. 

Elnora married Franklin D. Hembree on Aug. 28, 1951 in Benton County, Arkansas and he preceded her in death on November 4, 1961. 








She is survived by four children, Nick Childress and wife, Sharon of Fairland, Oklahoma, Lois Prewitt and husband, Dennis of Neosho, Frank Hembree and wife, Karen of Baxter Springs, Kansas and Alan Hembree of Neosho; three brothers, Eugene Adams of Neosho, Jerry Adams of Anderson and Don Adams of Lake Havasue, Arizona; three sisters, Ernestine Talley of Neosho, Joyce Harbour of Orange Beach, California and Dolores Brown of Neosho; 16 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren and 27 great great grandchildren. 

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Elaine, a great grandchildren and a grandson in law.
