(From Ferry Funeral Home) Daniel John Miller, 49, Nevada, MO passed away on Monday, November 29, 2021 at his home in Nevada following a lengthy illness. Dan was born September 7, 1972 in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO to Alan C. and Barbara J. (Glenn) Miller.
On September 19, 1999 he was united in marriage to Leila Lynn Irwin in Nevada and she survives of the home.
Dan grew up in Wyoming and graduated from Laramie High School in 1991 where he was an All-State Goalie for his soccer team. Following high school he attended Central Christian Bible College in McPherson, KS, the University of Wyoming, and Missouri Southern State College Police Academy. Dan worked for the Nevada Police Department for five years, and the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department for the past 20 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and the Southwest Missouri Drug Trask Force. Dan enjoyed rock climbing, playing video games, and was an avid supporter of Nevada Little League Tiger Cheerleaders.
In addition to his wife Leila, he is survived by two children, Samuel Miller and Emberlie Miller, both of the home; father, Alan Miller, Shell Knob, MO; grandmother, Elizabeth V. Miller, Frankfort, IN; sister, Elizabeth Ann Bradshaw (Anthony), Franklin, TN; three nieces and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother; and his grandfather, John Dale Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with visitation following until 8:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested in his memory to the Shriner Children’s Hospital c/o Ferry Funeral Home.
