John Maurer

John Frederick Maurer, age 72, of Joplin, passed away December 26, 2021 in Seneca, Missouri.

John was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on November 2, 1949. He grew up in Joplin and graduated from Joplin High School in 1967. Growing up, John enjoyed bowling with his dad and together they were involved in many area bowling leagues.

John worked for EaglePicher for over 20 years. Most recently, before his retirement, he enjoyed working at the local casinos as a poker dealer.

 

He is survived by his sisters, Donna Garrigan and husband, Dennis, and Diana Maurer, all of Joplin, and Deb Fee and wife, Colleen, of Greeley, Colorado; his best friend, Gary Marison, of Berthoud, Colorado; several nieces, nephews, and many loved extended family members.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Kathryn Maurer; a sister, Denise Thomas; and his brother and very best friend, Billy, who he lost in October of 1953.

We will remember our older brother as kind and loving. He will be greatly missed by all.

No formal services are planned at this time. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
