(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Kimberly Rae “Kimmy” Qualls, age 64 of Galena, KS, passed away at Freeman West Hospital of Joplin, MO on Thursday, December 23, 2021.
Kimmy was born in Joplin, MO on April 11, 1957 to the union of James C. “Jimmy” Qualls and Carol Rae (Elder) Qualls. She was a lifetime resident of Galena and spent her years under the compassionate care of her mother, special caregiver Lisa Myers, and niece Leslie Heady. Although she was non-verbal, her genuine joy and happiness were a blessing to all those around her.
She is survived by her parents, Jimmy and Carol Rae Qualls; one brother, Kirk Qualls (wife, Becky) of Galena; three nieces, Leslie Heady (husband, Doug) of Oronogo, MO, Ashley Qualls-Groves (husband, Dave) of Galena, and Abby Weaver of Galena; her special caregiver, Lisa Myers, a dear family friend, Myra Frazier; as well as several cousins and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, W.F. “Berry” Elder and Lois Evelyn Elder, and Grace Louise Qualls.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Galena Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the care that they provided to Kimmy.
Kimmy has been entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena for cremation. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be expressed at www.derfeltfuneralhomes.com.
