Gary Lynn Headley, 76, Nevada, MO passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO following a brief illness. Gary was born September 2, 1945 in Nevada to Guy H. and Fern M. (Short) Headley.
Gary grew up in Nevada and graduated form Nevada High School in 1963. In 1965 he began working for Nevada Fertilizer, later known as Sohigro and then Terra. In 1973 he took over management of their Rich Hill Branch where he continued working his entire life until his retirement. He was a member of the Nevada Elks Lodge, the Nevada Eagles, the Nevada Country Club, and served on the Bushwhacker Museum Board. He enjoyed fishing, going to Pomme de Terre Lake, spending time with his grandchildren, and visiting with Coffie Club friends at Quick Dine.
Survivors include two daughters, Sherry Hutson (Doug), Neosho, MO, and Kristi Townsend (Brad), Clinton, MO; four grandchildren, Shaun McConnaughey (Stephanie), Ryan McConnaughey (Lucy), and Cody MCConnaughey (Candance), all of Neosho, and Taylor Heiman (Garrett), Rockville, MO; eight great-grandchildren, Noah, Abigail, Amelia, Caleb, Eli, Lydia, Isaac, and Jett; two brothers, Rick Headley (Sandy), Nevada, and Mike Headley, Nevada; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Vicky, he was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Newton Burial Park in Nevada. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
