(From Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home)Reva Lois West, age 96, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 2:10 p.m. on Monday, December 27, 2021, at the Lawrence County Manor, in Mt. Vernon. She was born August 3, 1925, in Lawrence County, Missouri, the daughter of Lewis and Lacy (Gibson) Nivens.
Reva was a 1943 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School. She was a foster grandparent for the Mt. Vernon Elementary and Middle School and was a homemaker. She attended the First Methodist Church for many years and later in life the First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Vernon.
On October 2, 1943, she married Rex West, in Avilla, Missouri. He preceded her in death on August 13, 1992.
Reva is survived by her son, Rick West and his wife, Dawn, of Lake Ozark, Missouri; three grandsons, Chris West, of Joplin, Dustin West and Amber Eidem, of Carl Junction, and Brian West and his wife, Somer, of Joplin; five great-grandchildren, Shae, Aliah, Madison, Titus and Kaden; three nieces, Wilma Wood of Mt. Vernon; Donna Staats of Kansas City, Missouri and Mary Wood of Monett, Missouri.
Reva was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis, and Lacy; husband, Rex; two sisters, Lenor Ware and Charlotte Wood; daughter-in-law, Joyce “Jody” West; one niece, Barbara Hogard and two nephews, Jerry and Larry Wood.
A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at the Goss Cemetery northwest of Mt. Vernon at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable to the Goss Cemetery Association or the First Presbyterian Church, in care of the funeral home.
