Helen White

Helen White age 88, of Goodman, Missouri, passed away at 12:47 p.m. on Monday, September 5, 2022, at Freeman Hospital in Neosho, Missouri. She was born on October 2, 1933, in Granby Missouri to the late Martin Andrew and Mable Jenny (Harris) Long. 

Helen graduated from Granby High School, in Granby, Missouri, where she received a scholarship for her excellence in the band. She used that scholarship to pursue a business degree, putting off marriage until graduation. 








After she completed her schooling she married Richard Levon White, the love of her life on October 4, 1953, in Granby, Missouri. They eventually became the parents of four children and raised one nephew as a son. Richard preceded her in death on December 31, 2013.

De was a very involved parent. When her daughters were in Brownies, she was the troop leader, the youngsters kept calling her “Mom” or “Teacher” finally she said, “how about this, just call me “Peter Pan,” and she was known as Peter Pan to her children’s friends for many years. She remained involved with the Girl Scouts throughout her granddaughter’s participation and was awarded the Girl Scouts Lifetime Achievement Award. Her son recalls that she never missed a game, program, or event at the school throughout his childhood.

Helen came from a musical family, and she enjoyed making music until her death. She played music at a variety of events throughout her life.

After her children were all in school, she returned to work as an accountant and office manager. Upon her retirement, she worked to help set up the 911 system in McDonald County. Helen was gifted with a strong and inquisitive brain; she never stopped learning and had an impressive knowledge of many things. Her incisive grasp of situations and life, in general, will be greatly missed by friends and family.








She is survived by her two daughters Vicki Paull and Connie Sue (Mark) Boyd, one son Richard (Katherine) White

In addition to her husband and her parents, her brother Carl Everett Long, sisters Mary Alice Hoyt and Ruby Alexander, one daughter, Lavonna Gay Campbell, and a nephew Martin Long preceded her in death.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 9, 2022, at the Granby Memorial Cemetery with Larry Hoyer officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at the Clark Funeral Home in Neosho. Donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital in St. Louis Missouri.
