Bruce Hudelson

Bruce Lee Hudelson, 80, of Neosho, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2023, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri, following an illness. He was a lifelong area resident. 

Bruce attended Stella High School until his Senior year he moved to Bonner Springs, where he graduated. He served in the U.S. Army Intelligence Service in Florida during the Cuban Crisis and then served in Ankara, Turkey, from 1962 to 1965. 







Bruce was employed at La-Z-Boy Midwest in the Finish room from 1972 until he retired in 2005. He was a member of the Racine Christian Church, a former member of the Swars Prairie Methodist Church near Seneca, Missouri, until it closed, and a member of The American Legion Post #163 in Neosho, Missouri. 

Bruce did volunteer work at Cornell University starting in 2005 until last April, doing bird counting for migration patterns. He also enjoyed hunting, being outdoors, hiking, going to the mountains, especially Colorado, and spending time with his grandkids and family.






 

Bruce married Glenda Buening on May 4, 1973, at Swars Prairie Methodist Church in Seneca, Missouri. She survives along with two children: son Bruce “BJ” (Amanda) Hudelson of Joplin, Missouri, and daughter Stephanie (Luke) Hammond, of Springdale, Arkansas, eleven grandchildren: Paxton Fowler, Dehring Scudder, Gant Scudder, Shea Hudelson, Bella Saclolo, Isaac Saclolo, Canon Saclolo, Noah Hudelson, Rowan Saclolo, Silas Hudelson, and Judah Hudelson; two sisters Faye Whited and Jessie Eggleston; three brothers, Danny Boyer, George Boyer, and Joe Boyer.

Services will be held Monday, September 18, 2023, at Racine Christian Church at 10:30 AM with Pastor Kirk Rolfsema officiating. Graveside service to follow at Thompson Grove Cemetery in Seneca, Missouri. Full Military Honors will be performed by the Missouri Funeral Honors Program. The family will be receiving friends prior to service from 9:30-10:30 AM at the Racine Christian Church. The casket will be closed at service time to remain.
