Robert Gray

Robert Hartwell Gray, age 88, passed away on September 20th, 2023, at home following an illness.

Bob was born November 3, 1934 in North Little Rock to Silas and Lillie Bell (Hagins) Gray. He married Carol Jean Talley Spann on April 4, 1954 and they raised four children. After Carol’s death, Bob married Claudia M. Steubing on December 15, 1997. 

Bob is survived by Barbara Routledge (Chuck) of Lockwood, MO., Robert Silas Gray (Karen) of Joplin, MO., Gary Gray of Indianapolis, IN., Richard Gray of Stella, MO., Scott Steubing (Becky Sue) of Joplin, MO., and Rebecca Holman of Rolla, MO. Bob is also survived by many grand, great and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and loving friends.

Bob owned a meat processing plant in Lockwood, MO. and did custodial and maintenance work at MSSU and later at his home church. He loved fishing, hunting and hosting legendary fish fries for his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Helen, and grandson, Ben.

Funeral services have been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 25, 2023 at Christ’s Community United Methodist Church of Joplin, 2700 E. 44th Street, Joplin, MO. with burial at Moorehead Cemetery in Lamar. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Youth & Children’s Ministry of your choice.
