Bobby Childers

(From Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home)

Bobby Joe Childers, 84, of Wyandotte Oklahoma passed into eternal rest September 9, 2023 in Joplin Missouri with family at his side.

Bobby was born November 18, 1938 in Helena AR to Henry and Esther Childers. He lived there through early childhood before moving to Miami Oklahoma. It was there where he worked with his father and brothers at Root Manufacturing Company until his passion for music took him on a different journey.

Bob loved music and became a lead singer with several bands, but his most known work was with the Hobson Brothers. If he wasn't talking then he was singing. Together they recorded a record with the song titles Mad Sad Man and To those Wishing. They were known as BJ and the Hobson Brothers.

Bob later worked as a Truck owner operator though retirement. He was a member of Living Word Fellowship and was a passionate man of God. He was a loving father and grandfather. To know him was an honor and privilege. He had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. He was quick witted and loved to joke around with those he loved. He was the king of nicknames, so if he knew you then you most likely had one. He was a one of kind soul and he will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

Bobby Joe Childers was married to Rosemary Hardy Childers on October 27, 1973 in Denver Colorado she preceded him in death in May of 2016. He was also preceded in death by his parents Henry and Esther Childers, brothers Larry, Danny, Wayne, and Bill Childers, as well as granddaughter Kimberly Childers.

Survivors from previous marriage to Wanda Patrick include his son Lloyd Childers of Webb City MO, daughter Pamela Martin of Pittsburg KS, son Jeffery Childers of Springfield MO, and son Terry Childers of Carthage MO.
