(From Greenfield Funeral Chapel)Cletis McConnell, of Greenfield, MO, departed this life on Saturday, September 23, 2023, with his family by his side at the Good Shepherd Community Care and Rehabilitation Facility in Lockwood, MO at the age of 89.
He was born on February 9, 1934 in Dade County, MO to Arthur Clinton and Dorothy Marie (Feezell) McConnell. Cletis graduated from Greenfield High School.
He was united in marriage to Janice Theo Aleshire in September 1953 in Greenfield, MO. Cletis was a long-time Photojournalist with The Advertiser and The Vedette newspapers. He also worked with the Greenfield School District as a Bus Driver for 44 years.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Clinton and Dorothy McConnell; one daughter, Debbie Moore; one son, Jackie McConnell; one grandchild, Dalton Edwards; and two sisters, Christine Dickerson and Cathy McWilliams.
Survivors include his loving wife, Janice McConnell; one daughter, Sandy Edwards; one son, Brad McConnell; three sisters, Cleo Vaughn, Carolyn Sue McConnell; and Lou Miller; seven grandchildren, Dustin Crayton, Eric Crayton, Brandon Moore, Roxanne Thompson, Brittany DeVoe, Mariah Alfaro, and Nick McConnell; fourteen great-grandchildren, Sawyer Crayton, Colby Crayton, Andrew Crayton, Allison Crayton, Alex Crayton, Ashlynn Crayton, Ariel Crayton, Gabriel Moore, Natalie Moore, Camden Moore, Emily Crozier, Adrian Crozier, Riley DeVoe, and Ella DeVoe; and six nieces and nephews, Jeff Vaughn, Rick Vaughn, Brent Miller, Mark Miller, Mike Dickerson, and Lynnette Ammel.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2023, at Greenfield Funeral Chapel. The family encourages those who attend to share their personal stories of Cletis. Burial will follow in Vaughn Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Services are under the care of Greenfield Funeral Chapel.
