Mary Naomi Daugherty, age 100, passed away peacefully at the Autumn Place in Joplin, MO, on September 23, 2023. Born in Spring City, MO, on October 4, 1922, to the late Charlie and Cora (Emmitt) Myers. Mary lived a life marked by selfless love, gentle kindness, and an unwavering dedication to her family.
Mary devoted her life to raising her children. She had a passion for gardening and crossword puzzles, but she was most known for her love of reading. A voracious reader, Mary could often be found with a book in her hand, losing herself in the pages of a good story. She also enjoyed playing cards, and she loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and happiness.
She is survived by her son, Paul Daugherty Jr., and his wife, Lisa, of Joplin, and her daughter, Christy Simpson, of Joplin. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her siblings, Alvin Leroy Myers, Violet Pauline Myers Drake, Gladys Gay Myers Jones, Pansy Melvolia Myers Clabaugh Clark, Ray A. Myers, Roy Myers, and Ruth Leona Myers Lamb.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Parker Mortuary in Joplin with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Joplin. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Friday, September 29th beginning at 1:00 PM at Parker Mortuary.
Funeral arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
