Mary Franklin

Mary Jean Franklin, 65, of Girard, died at 6:45 a.m., Friday, September 15, 2023 at her residence.

Mary was born June 5, 1958 in Kaiserslautern, Germany, a daughter of Merle and Josephine (Buhl) Kavanagh. The family moved to Girard in 1960 and she graduated from Girard High School in 1976.

She worked for Alan Baker’s Liquor Store in Girard and as a certified Nurse aide and certified medication aide at the Girard Medical Center and at WestRidge, now Homestead, Retirement Community in Girard.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, William, of the home, her daughters Sabrina Augustin, and her husband, Bennie, of Walnut, Angela Adams, and her husband, Truckey, of Girard, Amy Franklin, and her fiancé, Lu, of Pittsburg, Jeana Franklin, and her fiancé, Billie, of North Carolina, Rylea Franklin, Raydence Franklin, RyAnne Franklin, all of the home; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Tom Kavanagh, and his wife, Ann, of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, Mike Kavanagh, and his wife, Pam, of Neosho, Missouri, Marvin Vitt of St. Paul, Bill Kavanagh, and his wife, Jane, of Girard; her sisters, Christi Bayer, and her husband, Lester, of St. Paul, Tammy Blackburn, and her husband, Mark, of St. Paul, Janice Norris, and her husband, Stacy, of Walnut, Marcia Seims, and her husband, Dave, of Navarre, Florida.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister.

Private services will be held on Tuesday.
