Virgie Thomas

Virgie Ellen Thomas, age 93, of Miller, Missouri, passed away at 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at the Lawrence County Manor in Mt. Vernon, Missouri. She was born October 25, 1929, in Bowers Mill, Missouri, the daughter of Eldridge and Ruth (Kelley) Curtis.

Virgie was a 1947 graduate of Miller High School and worked as the Chief Deputy Assessor for Lawrence County for 28 years. She has been a member of the Blake Baptist Church since 1959.

Virgie married William Etter Thomas in 1950 in Bentonville, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on August 8, 1985.

Virgie is survived by three sons, Dick Thomas and his wife, Kenda, of Marshfield, Missouri, Steven Thomas and his wife, Debbie, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri and Mark Thomas of Miller, Missouri; one brother, Boyd Curtis and his wife, Rosie, of Avilla, Missouri; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Virgie was preceded in death by her parents, Eldridge and Ruth, and her husband, William.

A graveside service, under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 2, 2023, at the Fellowship Cemetery.
