Kevin Michael Teel, 43, passed away on February 7, 2026, at Freeman Hospital following a tragic accident. Kevin was born on August 15, 1982, in Big Spring, Texas, to Mark and Theresa Teel.
Kevin dedicated his life to caring for others. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Missouri Southern State University in Joplin in 2008. During his undergraduate years, he worked for four years as an emergency room CNA, where he discovered his passion for emergency medicine. He continued in that field as a registered nurse, developing exceptional skills in rapid assessment and compassionate emergency care.
In 2006, Kevin earned his Master of Science in Nursing from MSSU-UMKC and became a Family Nurse Practitioner. He proudly served in the National Health Service Corps and spent three years in family practice before specializing full-time in dermatology. Kevin was deeply committed to building meaningful relationships with his patients, ensuring they felt respected, informed, and truly cared for throughout their treatment.
On July 1, 2006, Kevin married the love of his life, Lindsey. Together they built a beautiful life and were blessed with three children: McKensey, Noah, and Lucas. Kevin was a devoted husband and father who loved his family with his whole heart. He was known for his kindness, steady presence, and remarkable ability to fix just about anything. Whether caring for patients, helping a friend, or spending time with his children, Kevin gave of himself generously and wholeheartedly.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L.E. Teel; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Boerschinger; and his father-in-law, Dr. Mark S. Matlock.
Kevin is survived by his loving wife, Lindsey, and their children, McKensey, Noah, and Lucas, of Joplin, Missouri; his parents, Mark and Theresa Teel of Springfield, Missouri; his mother-in-law, Jeanne Matlock of Joplin; his brother, Mark Teel II (Robyne) of Midland, Texas; his brother, Jon Besherse (Amy) of Cedarburg, Wisconsin; his sisters, Amanda (Brent) watkins of Bolivar, Missouri, and Kristi Teel of Springfield, Missouri; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews, extended family members, colleagues, and dear friends.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Forest Park Baptist Church in Joplin, Missouri. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church.
Kevin’s legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched through his compassion, dedication, and unwavering love for his family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Flowers may be delivered to the church beginning at 9:00 AM on Tuesday. In accordance with Kevin’s wishes, cremation will take place following services.
Cremation and service arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery and Crematory.
