Clyde Thomas

Clyde Leland Thomas, age 76, of Nashville, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.

Clyde was born in Carthage, Missouri, to Clyde H. Thomas and Wanda (Dudgeon) Thomas. He graduated from Jasper High School in 1968 and went on to build a life rooted in hard work, family, and the outdoors.

He was united in marriage to Patricia (Hess) Thomas, who survives him, on June 16, 1979, at Nashville Christian Church. Clyde was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.








He is also survived by his children Missy (Robert) Vacca of Pittsburg, Kansas; Jay (Melissa) Mattson of Hepler, Kansas; and Gary C. (Wendy Justice) Mattson of Pittsburg, Kansas.

Papa Clyde was a proud grandfather to Nick (Sarah) Vacca of Carl Junction, Missouri; Mattie Vacca of Pittsburg, Kansas; Landon Vacca of Pittsburg, Kansas; Jayln (Thomas) Birdsong of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Drew (Chloe) Mattson of Cleveland, Missouri; and Reed (Abby) Mattson of Carl Junction, Missouri. He was also blessed with six great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him great joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Clyde spent much of his life farming and also worked for many years as a road grader operator for the Nashville Township. A true craftsman, he loved woodworking and was especially proud of the benches and coffee tables he built using wood from trees he cut down himself.








Above all else, Clyde loved the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, and trapping were his greatest passions, and his skill in trapping earned him several national awards. He especially enjoyed searching for arrowheads and other artifacts, always eager for the next discovery. He never passed up a good fish fry and was well known for frying up some truly delicious fish.

Clyde became a member of the Nashville Christian Church as a young man and remained a faithful member throughout his life.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 8, 2026, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Konantz Warden Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 9, 2026, at Nashville Christian Church, followed by interment at Nashville Cemetery.

Clyde will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of the land, and the simple joys he found in nature, family, and a life well lived.
