(From Parker Mortuary)Ray Stowers Harding was born January 29, 1927 to Joseph F Harding and Nellie Lee Vance Harding In Pittsburg, Kansas. He attended Joplin Schools, Graduating in 1945. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps, had Basic Training at Keesler Field in Biloxi, Mississippi, and the Air Corps Signal School at Scott Field in Belville, Illinois being assigned to the 30th Bomb Wing at Erlangen, Germany.
After returning home, he married Marjorie Eileen Crews. They both graduated from Missouri University at Columbia, Missouri. Ray was employed by the J.I. Case Company in Racine, Wisconsin, as a mechanical engineer, retiring in 1986.
Surviving are daughter Linda Smart, and son Greg Harding (Pat), of Reading, Pennsylvania, brothers, Robert (Bob) Harding, of St. Louis, Missouri, Dad, William J. (Bill) Harding, Joplin, Missouri; grandchildren, Colin Copriati (Jennifer), Asch Hawthorn, Christopher Harding, Emily Harding Turner (Quinton), and Joseph Harding; nieces, Nancy Lynn Harding Haupt, Kathy Leigh Harding, Deborah Joe Harding Lawson (Jay), and Donna Sue Harding Coupe.
Graveside services are planned for Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin, Missouri.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri and Henninger Funeral Home in Reading, Pennsylvania.
