Mary DeKalb

Mary Kathryn DeKalb, 100, of Joplin, passed away on January 24, 2026. She was born April 14, 1925, in Brazil, Iowa to Roy and Golda Lowe.

Mary married Leonard Hobart in 1943 who passed away in 1973. Together they raised 4 children. She later married Larry DeKalb in 1979 who passed away in 1985.

Mary was well respected and will be lovingly remembered for her independent nature and strength of character.






Her hobbies were bowling, antiquing, feeding the birds, and making her home beautiful with her large milk glass collection. Over the years she enjoyed volunteer work at the First Presbyterian food pantry, Crosslines Churches, and Mercy Hospital.

She is survived by 8 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Her daughter Cynthia and son-in-law Gary Shuler and her niece Beverly Heath.








She was preceded in death by her 3 sons; Doren, Brian, and Aaron Hobart; her sister Bettie Morawitz and granddaughter Emily Johnson.

Services are under the personal care and direction of Clark Funeral Homes.
