From Parker Mortuary)Nancy Ann Murray, 69, passed away on February 7, 2026, in Joplin, Missouri. She was born on October 29, 1956, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to the late Lester and Agnes (Nehib) Myers.
Nancy's educational journey was a testament to her dedication to lifelong learning and her commitment to the field of nursing. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana, in 1990, followed by a Master of Science in 1991 at the same institution. Her pursuit of excellence led her to obtain a Doctorate in Education from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, in 1999. These accomplishments laid the foundation for a career that would touch countless lives.
Professionally, Nancy was a pillar in the healthcare community, serving as a nurse at Freeman Hospital and Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. Her caring nature and expertise were not confined to the hospital wards; she also shaped the future of nursing as a Professor at Indiana Wesleyan University.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Nancy was a woman of diverse interests and unwavering faith. Travel was another of Nancy's passions, with Branson, Missouri, holding a special place in her heart for its vibrant entertainment and scenic beauty. She found solace and joy in coloring. Nancy's commitment to her faith was evident in her active involvement in Bible Study Fellowships, where she both learned from and contributed to the spiritual growth of her community. She was a cherished member of One Church in Joplin, Missouri, where her love for the church and its congregation was palpable.
Nancy is survived by her siblings; Patsy Dismuke (David) and Mary Haynes; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Doug Murray; and brother-in-law, Don Haynes.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at One Church in Joplin, MO. with Pastor Shane Munn officiating.
