(From Parker Mortuary)Monique Nichole Rhea Johnson, age 45, passed away on February 3, 2026, in Joplin, Missouri. She was born on March 16, 1980, in Chicago, Illinois, to Huey Rhea and Kim Johnson.
Monique's passion for beauty and self-expression led her to pursue a career in cosmetology after graduating from cosmetology school. While she dedicated many years to her craft, Monique also served her community as a cashier at Phillips 66, where her cheerful demeanor brightened the days of countless customers. Her work ethic and commitment to service were unparalleled, and she formed lasting friendships with both colleagues and patrons.
Monique's love for life extended to her many interests. Her culinary skills were unmatched, especially when it came to her signature dishes like banana pudding, monkey mac, and spinach artichoke dip. Friends and family often gathered around Monique's table to enjoy her delicious creations and bask in the warmth of her company. Her sense of style was evident not only in her fashion choices but also in her love for sandals, perfume, and her favorite brand, Coach. She also was an avid reader.
She is survived by her loving husband, Ralph Robinson; parents, Huey Rhea and Kim Johnson; daughter, Areil Johnson; nine grandchildren, Danaesia, Tahleah (Lele), Pierre, Ziare, Shantrell, Trayvon, Lavon, Chris Jr., and Christen; uncle, Tony; aunts, Verla, Tonya and Patrice (Jay); grandmother, Enda Johnson; grandfather, Wyatt Kenner; great-grandmother, Alberta Fortson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Monique is preceded in death by her dear grandmother that she held close to her heart, Pat Brown; grandfather, Russell Rhea; and great-grandmother, Estelle Wade.
A funeral service is planned for Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at Unity Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Rufus Kelly officiating. The family invites friends out for a time of visitation prior to the service at 11:00 a.m.
Funeral arrangements are under the direct care of Parker Mortuary in Joplin, MO.
