(From Parker Mortuary)Robert Keith Shellenbarger, affectionately known as Bob to his friends and family, passed away on Monday February 2, 2026 in Joplin, Missouri following a long battle with cancer.
Robert was born October 28, 1953 in Joplin, Missouri to Earl and Dolores Shellenbarger. He married the love of his life, Carol Brockett on August 20, 1971. Bob loved sports. He officiated softball, basketball and volleyball for local school districts and did many tournaments across the country. This was his passion. He loved every minute. He received an award from MSHSAA for 25 years of service and was known for his infectious smile and love for the kids and the game.
Bob is survived by his wife Carol, daughter Robin Newman and husband Jeffrey Newman, son Dustin Shellenbarger and wife Rachel Shellenbarger, daughter Taryn Elder and husband Peter Elder and daughter Autumn Deer and husband Jonathan Deer.
He leaves behind many grandchildren and great grandchildren of whom he was immensely proud. He spent many years playing games, riding bikes, taking walks and playing outside with his grandkids. They were his pride and joy.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026 from 5PM to 8PM at the Joplin Association for the Blind, 311 S. Schifferdecker, Joplin, MO 64801.
