(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)June Iris Knight, age 89, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026, at Solace House of the Ozarks in Joplin.
She was born on July 25, 1936, in Joplin, Missouri, to Chester and Anamae Knight. June grew up in Joplin alongside her ten siblings, forming close family bonds that lasted throughout her life.
June was a devoted military wife and spent many years traveling and living in various places around the world. After returning home to Joplin, she worked as an assistant cook at the Joplin Community Center, where she enjoyed serving others and being part of the local community.
She was a member of the Red Hat Society and found joy in simple pleasures—playing bingo, visiting the casino, working on puzzles, adult coloring books, and scrapbooking. June especially cherished time spent with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Anamae Knight; brothers, Guy Knight and Fred Knight; sisters, Glenna Woodworth, Betty Pilgrim, and Rosie Jones; two infant sons; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
June is survived by her son, Robert Pilgrim and wife Winnie of Trimble, Missouri; her daughter, Donna McFarland and husband John of Webb City, Missouri; brothers, Jim Knight and John Easley; sisters, Kate Simpson, Carolyn Cole, and Mary Hudson; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Mason-Woodard Chapel.
Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Solace House of the Ozarks.
