(From Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary)Kristen Nichol Bauer, 39, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on July 5, 2026, in Joplin, Missouri, from natural causes. She was born on November 1, 1986, in Joplin, Missouri, and lived her life with a spirit that was loving, courageous, and gentle.
Kristen was a beloved daughter, family member, and friend whose presence brought warmth and comfort to those who knew her. She was the daughter of Mark Bauers and stepmother, Julie of Joplin, and the late Christine Hawkins Bauer. She is also survived by her uncle, Michel W. Bauer of Joplin. Her family meant a great deal to her, and she cherished the bonds she shared with those closest to her throughout her life.
Kristen was a 2021 graduate of Joplin High School, an accomplishment that reflected her determination and perseverance. Although she never worked due to a lifetime disability, she met life with quiet strength and grace. Her courage was evident in the way she faced each day, and her gentle nature left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Christian by faith, Kristen found comfort and belonging in her church community. She attended College Heights Christian Church of Joplin, where her faith was an important part of her life.
Kristen had simple joys that brought her happiness. She loved music and watching cartoons, and these interests reflected her playful and tender spirit. When she was younger, she especially enjoyed going with her father to country music concerts, memories that remained meaningful to her and to her family. These moments of shared time and music were among the treasures of her life.
Those who knew Kristen will remember her for the love she gave so freely, the courage she showed in the face of hardship, and the gentleness that marked her every interaction. She had a quiet way of making others feel cared for, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Her life, though not measured by worldly accomplishments, was rich in love, faith, and the enduring strength of her character.
