Beulah Miller

We gather here today to celebrate the long and beautiful life of Beulah Frances Miller.

Beulah was born on December 9, 1929, in Redings Mill, Missouri, to William H. Busse and Flora Blanche Purcell. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at the age of 96.

Beulah was preceded in death by her parents; her two brothers and two sisters; the love of her life, her husband, Leonard Miller Sr.; and her great-granddaughter, Kimberly Henderson.

She is lovingly survived by her baby sister, Wilma Jean Dugan of Afton, Oklahoma; her four children, Michael Eugene Miller of Joplin, Mitchell Allen Miller of Joplin, Debra Kay Watson of Joplin, and Frank Leon Miller Sr. and his wife, Linda Miller, of Joplin. She also leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends who will cherish her memory.

Beulah dedicated more than 60 years of her life to her work as a skilled seamstress. Throughout her career, she worked for Miller's Manufacturing, Specialty Bags, and Evans Collars, where she remained until her retirement in 2005. Her strong work ethic and dedication were evident in everything she did.

Above all, Beulah was devoted to her family. She loved spending time with her husband and children at the river and aboard their houseboat, creating memories they would treasure forever. After Leonard's passing in 1980, Beulah courageously raised her children on her own and never remarried, remaining faithful to the family and the life they had built together.

She found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved searching for hidden treasures at rummage and estate sales, relaxing in her recliner with a cup of black coffee and a handful of gingersnaps, and spending quiet afternoons reading, working crossword puzzles, playing solitaire, watching her favorite soap operas, Judge Judy, and any Western she could find on television.

One of the fondest memories shared by her family is that nearly every grandchild and great-grandchild was introduced to black coffee by Beulah—one little sip at a time. It became a cherished family tradition that perfectly reflected her warmth, playful spirit, and the special bond she shared with each of them.

Beulah will be remembered for her strength, independence, resilience, unwavering love for her family, and the countless memories she created throughout her remarkable life. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A celebration of Beulah's life will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the Community Room at Galena City Hall, Galena, Kansas. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor her life, share memories, and celebrate the love she gave so freely to everyone around her.
