Gail Crandall

Gail Louise Crandall, age 80, of Joplin, entered into her heavenly home on Monday, July 27, 2026.

Gail was born on July 22, 1946, in Great Bend, Kansas, to the late Ralph and Lucille (Connor) Comer. She graduated from McAuley Catholic High School, where she laid the foundation for the strong values that guided her throughout her life. She believed in hard work, faith, and the importance of family. 

For over 20 years, Gail worked as a production worker for Specialty Foods Distribution. Outside of work, Gail found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved going to rummage sales, where she enjoyed the excitement of finding hidden treasures. She also enjoyed knitting and planting flowers around her home in her spare time. Gail was also an avid bowler and softball player in her younger days. Family was at the center of Gail’s life. She treasured the time she spent with her loved ones and especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a longtime attendee of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church before health issues limited her attendance during the last 15 years of her life. Gail will be remembered for her loving heart, her kind spirit, and her selfless nature. She touched the lives of many through her work, her devotion to family, and the quiet example she set each day.

In addition to her parents, Gail was preceded in death by her brother, R.C. Comer; and one grandchild, Mikeal Allen Crandall.

Gail is survived by her three children, Ron Crandall, Jr. (Donna), Robert Crandall and his wife, Nancy, and Reuben Crandall and his wife, Stacy; 11 grandchildren, Candace Nelson, Brandon Crandall and his wife, Dessa, Shelby Crandall (Jesse Fisher), Ryan Crandall (Jessica), Reanna Crandall (Alex Inman), Ashley Cichy (Anthony Peil), Heather Cichy (Brandon Francis), Derek Cichy (Kristina), Derrik Crandall and his wife, Syvle, Corey Crandall (Lexi) and Cheyanne Gudgull and husband, Kyle; 46 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made out to St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in care of the mortuary.

Rosary will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary with a visitation to follow from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church with Father Joe Weidenbenner officiating. Interment to follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Brandon Crandall, Derrik Crandall, Corey Crandall, Ryan Crandall, Jesse Fisher and Alex Inman serving as pallbearers.

Funeral arrangements are under the special care and direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary.
