Dick Payne

Richard Onell “Dick” Payne, age 68, of Anderson, Missouri, passed away on Sunday evening, July 26, 2026, in the comfort of his home, following a recent battle with cancer. He was born on April 24, 1958, in Neosho, Missouri, to Victor and Dolly (Wilson) Payne.

Dick was raised in the Puckett Community in rural McDonald County, Missouri and was a 1976 graduate of McDonald County High School.

Over the years, Dick held several roles that reflected his strong work ethic and wide range of talents. He managed the Feed Mill for Simmons in Anderson, Missouri, and he was also a poultry and cattle farmer. In addition, he was a well-known horse trainer and a licensed real estate appraiser for more than twenty-five years. Whether he was working with livestock, evaluating property, or helping others through his knowledge and experience, Dick approached each responsibility with dedication and care. He was especially known for his love of horses, which remained one of the great joys of his life.

Dick was a member of Banner Church and found strength in his faith and in the fellowship of his church family. He enjoyed fishing and quail hunting, and he especially loved cooking on the grill for his family and friends. Time spent outdoors and time shared around a meal were among the simple pleasures he treasured most.

He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Payne whom he married on March 1, 2014; six children, Vanessa Blinzler (Nathan), Victor Payne, Colt O’Brien (Courtnie) Shane Russell (Amber), Kylie Russell (John) and Katelyn Marrs; five grandchildren, Roza, Casen, Cade, Cali and Briella; two great grandchildren, Alys and Elyas; his mother Dolly Payne; as well as a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Victor Payne and a sister, Vickey Cullers.

Memorial services for Dick will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Banner Church of the Nazarene in Anderson, Missouri. Arrangements are under the care of Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri.
