(From Buchanan Funeral Home)Jerry Robert Gaines, 76, of Monett, MO, passed from this life to his heavenly home on Sunday, July 26, 2026, following a short illness.
Jerry was born on May 14, 1950, in Aurora, MO, son of Floyd Jr. and Fernetta (Himebaugh) Gaines. Jerry graduated from Aurora High School with the Class of 1968. He began his career at the Missouri State Chest Hospital in Mount Vernon before later fulfilling his dream by opening Jerry’s Jigs in Monett. An avid outdoorsman, Jerry especially enjoyed spending time at Roaring River, where he looked forward to trout fishing throughout every season of the year. He was a member of Waymark Church and cherished the friendships and fellowship he found there.
On June 2, 1972, Jerry Robert Gaines married Linda Lorene Thompson in the First Baptist Church in Monett. They were blessed with over fifty-two years together before her passing last year.
Survivors include his mother-in-law, Dolores Thompson, of Monett; and cousins Rick and Martha Himebaugh of Monett; as well as a host of loving church family and friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife Linda.
A private interment will be held at the Waldensian Cemetery in Monett. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
