(From Simpson Funeral Home)Iva Jean (Myers) Misner passed away from this life at the age of 88 at St. Luke's in Carthage. She was born on November 13, 1937 to Lloyd and Doney Myers. She was a homemaker for most of her life, creating an environment of love and compassion for her family.
Iva had no more than finished the 11th grade than she fell in love with Melvin Misner. They were married for over 67 years. In their marriage, they had three children - Susan, Beverly and Mark. Over the years, she had worked as a waitress and as a factory worker at Elder's Shirt Factory. Her primary career, though, was being a dedicated mother to her children and wife to Mel.
Iva was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin "Mel" Misner; her parents; and her two brothers Richard Lee Myers and J.D. Franklin Myers. She leaves behind her children Susan (Steve) Gartin of Webb City, Beverly Tappana of Webb City, and Mark (Deborah) Misner of Ft. Smith, AR; grandchildren Tara (Demetri) Mendoza of Ft. Smith, AR, Lacey (Rusty) Robertson of Joplin, Meghan (Jake) Aldridge of Oronogo, Jorden (Baron) Ochoa of Hampstead, NC, Mark Gregory (Ashley) Misner of Ft. Smith, AR, Larry Tappana Jr of Carl Junction, and Shelly Foulk of Carl Junction. She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Iva's life will be honored with a funeral service on Friday, July 31st at 10am at the First Baptist Church in Webb City with Pastor Dustin Burdin officiating. The family will receive friends from 9am until service time at the same venue. Interment will follow at Carterville Cemetery.
