Drexa Geier

Drexa Nell (Fincher) Geier, 83, passed from this life into Life Eternal at 12:45 P.M., Tuesday, July 21, 2026, following a battle with cancer. She was born at the family home in Parsons, Kansas on January 22nd, 1943, to Ray Drexel Fincher and Inez (Nelson) Fincher. In addition to her parents, she was welcomed by a big brother, Nelson Ray Fincher. 

Her early childhood days were spent in Parsons with a brief time living in Oceanside, California while her father was serving in the Marine Corps at nearby Camp Pendelton. Following the time at Oceanside, the family returned to Parsons. Following the war, the family moved several times due to her father’s employment on the MK&T Railroad. She attended school in Kansas City, Missouri, Pasadena, Texas, McAlester, Oklahoma, and Parsons. She graduated from Parsons High School in 1961. She later attended Pittsburg State University in Kansas where she received her Bachelor of Social Work degree.

She and Gary Lee Trotnic were married in 1960. They later divorced. She later married Larry Geier in 1981. He died in 2021.

During her teen years she played piano and briefly studied the organ. She played the piano and the organ for vesper services at the former Washington Avenue Methodist Church in Parsons.

She was a life member of Wesley Methodist Church in Parsons. She was a talented seamstress and greatly enjoyed time spent quilting with the Wesley Miracle Quilters. She also enjoyed landscape painting in the style of Bob Ross.

In her youth, she participated in the Methodist Youth Fellowship and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

She worked at the Tempter Bakery in Parsons, the Larned State Hospital in Larned, Kansas and worked as an EMT with the Larned Fire Department. She then became a Child Protective Social Worker with the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services, and Court Services Officer with the 11th Judicial District in Parsons.

Drexa is survived by sons, Gary Lee Trotnic, Jr. (Michelle) of Rolla, Missouri, Gregory Lyle Trotnic of Farner, Tennessee, Jeff Trotnic (Julie) of Diamond, Missouri; Stepdaughter, Pam Geier of Parsons, Kansas; brother, Stephen Fincher of Parsons; sister-in-law, Marguerite Fincher of Riverside, California; numerous cousins, five grandchildren, Stephen Trotnic, Ashley Trotnic, Rebecca (Trotnic) Lancour, Aubrey (Trotnic) Roes, Arik Trotnic; and seven great-grandchildren.

Drexa was predeceased by her parents, sister, Susan Lynn (Fincher) Essig, and older brother Nelson Ray Fincher, nephew Aiden Fincher, and sister-in-law Carol Ann (Hudson) Fincher.

A memorial service will be held the evening of October 2nd, 2026, at Wesley United Methodist Church.
