Grant Krummel

Grant Galen Krummel, age 71, passed away peacefully on July 26th at his home in Joplin, Missouri with his family by his side.

Born on February 2, 1955 in Joplin, Missouri to Norma (Asher) and Lauran Krummel, Grant learned the values of dedication and integrity early in life. He proudly served his country straight out of high school and spent 6 years (1973-1979) in the United States Army where he developed a lifelong commitment to duty and discipline. Grant married his wife, Shelley (Clements) on July 2, 1983 in Colorado Springs, CO and they spent 43 beautiful years together. 

After his military service, Grant spent the next 18 years with Snyder Bridge as an operating engineers union member heavy equipment operator building bridges, working alongside his father and brother some of those years. Grant worked as a skilled crane operator and educator, respected by his peers for his precision and ability to handle the toughest jobs. In his later years he enjoyed working alongside his children and grandchildren & sharing his knowledge on running heavy equipment & fixing just about anything.

His love for agriculture later led him to become a dedicated Ranch Manager for Glen Oak Farms raising Maine-Anjou Show Cattle until their dispersal in 2012. He spent countless hours watching Andrea & Daniel prepare their show animals and traveling to shows as a family. Standing together in the show ring with his children and grandchildren created some of his most cherished memories and proudest moments.

Grant had a love and involvement for his community over the years. He spent many years as a board member for the Newton County Fair, supporting and instilling the importance of youth and agriculture in his community. Later on he helped his father in bettering the Hornet Cemetery Association. Even during his illness, Grant was committed & proud to carry the role as the Chairman of Hornet Cemetery Association.

Grant loved the freedom of the open road. He spent many years riding his Harley-Davidson and taking unforgettable road trips with his beloved wife, Shelley. Together, they explored new places, chased horizons, and shared a lifetime of love.

Above all his achievements, Grant was a devoted family man. He was a pillar of strength, wisdom, and unconditional love. He taught his family the importance of a strong work ethic, honesty, and cherishing the love only your family can provide.

He is survived by his wife Shelley; his children, Galen (Shawna) Krummel, Nathan (Angie) Krummel, Andrea (Aaron) Wilson, Daniel (Katelyn) Krummel; his grandchildren, Jenna Krummel, Lauren (Preston) Albrecht, Arlo & Audine Wilson, & Brooks Krummel; and his sister, Lynna Blase. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Lauran Krummel Jr & Stephen Krummel.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
