Charles Barker

Charles Edward Barker, 80, passed away after a brief illness on July 4, 2026 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO. Charles was the son of Clarence E. and Celia Mae Gosvener Barker in Neosho, MO on December 23, 1945. He was a lifelong area resident of Granby and Neosho, where he enjoyed his farm.

Charles was united in marriage on April 7, 1976 to Georgia Mouse, she preceded him in death on July 29, 2015. From this union they raised three children. His passion was horses, especially training and breaking horses, a gift he cherished until his passing. He was also a hardworker, including many years at Underground Rock Quarry and Swift Construction. He would later retire from the City of Granby after fifteen years of service in the utilities department. In his spare time, Charles enjoyed riding horses, coon hunting, being with his family and friends, and always enjoying a good laugh. His warm smile and sense of humor will be missed.









Charles is survived by three children: Tina Mountford, and husband Robert of Granby, MO; Teresa Keating, and Junior Gibbens of Granby, MO; and a son, Charles Brian Barker and Angela Cagle of Granby, MO. Five grandchildren; Jesse Mountford and Fallon; Dakota Cochran; Tisha Cochran; Alexis Barker; and Kayla Barker. Additional survivors include eight great-grandchildren; Chandler, Chase, Kassidy, Layton, Jaeden Lane, Harlie, Kaylyn, and Josiah. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who he cherished.

Charles is preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Barker, his parents and brothers.
